Extract from minute of Superintendent of Imports and Exports

dated 2nd November, 1922.

"On October 2nd, I authorized the destruction by fire at

"Kennedy Town (in the usus) my) of 60 cases of damaged

"cigarettes. I have conclusive evidence that though 60

"cases left the godown, 30 full cases and 30 empties came

"back. The 30 ful) casan, whose numbers are know, were

"sold to shop in Hongkong for $7,000, and a large proportion "of the cigarettes have vesterday and today been recovered

"by my officere and the police. But the point is that Ir. "Cessin simply put "destroyed" over his signature on the application to destrov, and accordingly the whole 60 cases "ware naturally written off."
